Sorenson Estate is a hidden gem, dedicated to continuing a family legacy of service, conservation and preservation.

Not Just a Venue

Sorenson Estate is part of a 400-acre farm gifted to the University of Missouri by Wesley and Simone Sorenson in 2012. Administered in part by the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, the greater property plays a key role in environmental studies, forest management, beef, fish and wildlife programs, as well as providing equine sciences facilities.

Continuing the Legacy

In keeping with the Sorenson family legacy, the manor was converted into a venue for communal gatherings to preserve and share this majestic home with others for years to come. The Sorenson Estate home continues to be used for education, booked and managed by Tiger Garden, the University of Missouri-Columbia’s student-run floral and events service.

Kylee Lawhead

Special Events Coordinator

CAFNR Alumni and graduate of the Hospitality Management department. As the Special Events Coordinator, I manage Sorenson Estate working with all clients from booking through the event. Through Tiger Garden, I work closely with students planning and designing client weddings and events. I absolutely adore my job and love bringing each and every clients inspirations to life. When I am not submerged in the wedding and event world, I enjoy traveling and surrounding myself with family and friends.

Emily Nelson

Student Liaison

I am a senior Hospitality Management major with a double emphasis in Conference and Events and Sport Venue Management. I’m from Keller, Texas but have a lot of family in Missouri, so I’ve been a Mizzou fan my whole life. After graduation, I would like to manage the events at a baseball stadium or possibly own my own event planning company. Outside of school and work, I love to cook and bake and hangout with friends.
